Time is a blessing and our goal is to help you keep it.
Why the alternating colors between four and the subsequent six markers?
Because four and six is an optimal ratio in seconds of inhale to exhale. As you breathe in tandem with the seconds hand as it goes around the dial, you are signaling to your nervous system that it is time to reset and refocus. This exercise can be beneficial in stressful situations and pleasant ones alike.
We’re not selling you a breathing or meditation course — we’re hoping to inspire you to check your watch, notice our original design motif, and be pulled back to the present by your breath.
How should I use my Adam Benedict watch more purposefully?
Sit or stand up straight to align your diaphragm. Look at your Adam Benedict watch…
Follow the seconds hand and take a deep inhale through the nose for a total of four seconds, as shown on your watch’s dial, filling the chest and lower abdomen with air.
Exhale slowly for a total of six seconds, slowly pushing the air back out through your nose or mouth. The more air you push out, the more fresh oxygen can come in.
Repeat as many times as needed.
NOTE: The Adam Benedict original design motif promotes an optimal breathing cadence but not the optimal breathing cadence, per se, as there are various optimal breathing cadences for different tasks. Our goal is to promote mindful breathing through our design.
