Adam Benedict is inspired by family history.
-
1844
Our great-great-great grandfather B. Reinin was born in Shklow, Belarus. After moving to Moscow, he became the first in our family, on record, to enter the watch and clock industry.
-
Late 1800s / Early 1900s
In an effort to avoid high customs duties on finished timepieces, B. Reinin’s factory produced clocks and watches from unassembled, often Swiss, parts.
-
1911
B. Reinin’s factory was the first in Moscow to replace the foot and hand production method with a mechanical one. His watch and clock factory became one of the largest in Moscow at that time.
-
1917
After the 1917 Russia Revolution, B. Reinin’s factory was taken over by the state as part of the new “Trust of Precision Mechanics.”
-
1930
B. Reinin’s grandson, Leon Zuckermann, who fled Russia in 1914, incorporated “Benedict Watch Co..”
-
1952
Leon Zuckermann’s son, Boris, joined forces with his father to develop the business further. According to Boris, the factory was producing 15,000-20,000 pieces per year for the Benedict brand and other private labels.
-
1959
Boris Zuckermann patented the Benedict Park-O-Phon, a watch with a manually-wound alarm created to assist its wearer in avoiding parking tickets.
-
Early 1970s
The Benedict Watch Co. was sold for its assets shortly before the infamous ‘Quartz Crisis.’
-
2022
The Adam Benedict brand is established. Not only do we share a name with B. Reinin and Benedict, we also share an interest in creating timepieces in an innovative manner.
